MetricStream to Host a Webinar on the Role of Auditors in Preventing IT Fraud

Well-known audit experts and executives will provide key insights on how auditors and management can work together to minimize fraud

April 25 2011 | Palo Alto, California: MetricStream Inc., the market leader in Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions, announced today that Richard E. Cascarino, CEO of audit training and consulting firm - Richard Cascarino & Associates - will join Prashanth Shetty, Vice President of GRC Solutions, MetricStream, in a webinar on 'The Role of Auditors in Preventing IT Fraud.'

About the webinar
Ever since the Enron scandal and the subsequent introduction of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, auditors have assumed new, more critical responsibilities in the prevention and detection of fraud. And it isn't just financial fraud that they are expected to address. IT fraud has become a top organizational risk, especially as network perimeters fade and IT systems grow more complex.

While auditors cannot be held responsible for failing to detect fraud, they can play an important role in minimizing fraud - whether by evaluating the effectiveness of existing fraud mitigation strategies, or conducting proactive fraud audits and investigations, or ensuring that residual risk is addressed.

Professional auditors combine skills in internal control assessment with a keen understanding of fraud risks and indicators. This expertise can help them deliver critical advice and assurance to Boards and Management on how to best deal with IT fraud.

The webinar will provide detailed insights into how auditors can work with management to minimize the possibility of IT fraud and maximize its detection. The speakers will provide perspectives on:

  • The nature of computer fraud
  • The corporate risk profile
  • Computer fraud techniques
  • Why computer fraud and who commits it?
  • Fraud auditing
  • Fraud awareness
  • Forensic auditing
  • Sources of evidence and audit tools
  • Legal evidence
  • Reporting sensitive issues
  • How Audit Management software can help
